Boston Sports and Shoulder Center Transforms Into Boston Bone & Joint Institute

  • New name reflects the full range of expertise and offerings

  • Practice opens a fifth patient center in Woburn, MA

  • State-of-the-art headquarters is being built in Waltham, MA


Waltham, MA, June 10, 2024 – In a strategic move to better represent its comprehensive orthopedic services, Boston Sports and Shoulder Center (BSSC) is rebranding to Boston Bone & Joint Institute (BBJI), effective immediately. This change underscores the organization's commitment to providing extensive and specialized orthopedic care.


BBJI’s mission is to deliver exceptional orthopedic care that empowers patients to reclaim their quality of life. Since its inception in 2006, BBSC (now BBJI) has been dedicated to providing the highest standards of care, empathy, and expertise, positioning itself as one of New England's leading orthopedic practices. The rebranding reflects an extensive range of specialties and continued unwavering commitment to personalized patient care.


BBJI’s comprehensive orthopedic care is tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient, facilitating swift and effective recovery from injuries and other orthopedic conditions. BBJI’s dedicated team of 19 surgeons and staff prioritizes open communication and collaboration, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.


Additionally, BBJI is pleased to announce the opening of its fifth office in Woburn, Massachusetts, at 800 West Cummings Park. This new facility aligns with BBJI's mission to expand its reach and enhance access to top-tier orthopedic care for a broader community. Further, BBJI is in the process of building its new headquarters at 71 Border Street in Waltham.  This state-of-the-art, 25,000 square foot facility, which is expected to open in November 2024, will feature 28 examination rooms and one procedure room.


“Our new name, Boston Bone & Joint Institute, more accurately reflects the comprehensive care and broad range of expertise we offer our patients,” said Jon Shaker, BBJI’s executive director. “The opening of our fifth office in Woburn and the construction of our new headquarters in Waltham are exciting developments that will allow us to serve our community even better.
